Power of Hukam

Hukam is the basic force behind creation, which sustains and transforms whole creation. Hukam is the primal force due to which everything is created, which makes people high and low, gives them happiness and sadness. Everything, every single atom of universe works in Hukam of Waheguru, but only few blessed ones recognise power of Hukam.

There are two basic principles of Sikhi, Jaap and Hukam. Jaap is to contemplate on Lord’s name, to remember him, love him. Hukam is living in divine will of Guru, living as he wishes us to. Guru is redeemer, Guru is the one who blesses his Sikh, Guru is the one who wakes up his Sikh to truth, Guru is the one who breaks the shackles of time and space and takes his Sikh into immortality. And all this happens when Sikh learns to live in Guru’s Hukam. Jaap is for spiritual upliftment of Soul, to take it near to Waheguru and Hukam is a physical manifestation of Spiritual position. The more we get closer to Waheguru through Japp, more we live in Guru’s hukam and more we live in Hukam, more we get closer to Waheguru. Both are inter-related to one another.

When Guru Gobind Singh ji created Khalsa Panth, he gave it a Rehat maryada, a discipline of how to live life of a Sant-Sipahi. He decreed that till Khalsa lives in Hukam, he’ll bless it with whole of his Power, his Grace and Light. The day Khalsa goes out of Hukam, he’ll leave it to its fate. Sikh’s only support, only Power, only companion is his Guru, and the day Sikh leaves his Guru or goes out of Guru’s Hukam, he/she is sure to be lost in Darkness of this world. We should try that there is nothing, no relation, no friends, no Vikaars which are strong enough to take us far from Guru, out of Guru’s Hukam.

Read as much baani you can, listen as much baani you can, do as much Sangat or sewa, it is useful only if Guru blesses our Baani, Sewa and Simran, it’ll help us only if we are in Guru’s Hukam, live in Guru’s will. Baani says
All the Sikhs and servants come to worship and adore you; they sing the sublime Bani of the Lord, Har, Har.
Only their singing and listening is approved by the Lord who accept the Order of the True Guru as True, totally True. ||1||

For a Sikh, heavens are in Guru’s holy feet. Sikh is Servant of Guru, Slave of his Guru, and the Sikh who considers himself servant of Guru, Guru blesses that Sikh with his Love and mercy, Guru makes that Sikh his own roop, gives his own form, gives him his power and glory. The Sikh, who has dedicated his life to Word of Guru, lives his life according to Hukam of Guru, is blessed by Guru with Bliss and eternal life.
When I am under the Lord's Command, I find even hunger pleasurable; I know no difference between sorrow and joy.
Whatever the Command of my Lord and Master is, I bow my forehead and accept it. ||3||
The Lord and Master has become merciful to His servant; He has embellished both this world and the next.
Blessed is that servant, and fruitful is his birth; O Nanak, he realizes his Lord and Master. ||4||5||

In Hukam lies Guru’s power. One who makes Guru’s Hukam as his/her rule of living is blessed by supreme power by Guru, to live according to that Hukam. Sikh who is ready to get his scalp removed just for Guru’s Hukam is blessed by Power from Guru to endure that pain. The Sikh who is ready to get his limbs cut for Guru is blessed by Guru with power to read baani and keep smiling even when the killer is cutting body parts one by one. This is power of Hukam.

Hill kings of north India attack Anandpur sahib and plan to break the gates of Fort Lohgarh with help of a drunken wild elephant. Sikhs come to know about this and tell Guru Gobind Singh ji about enemy plan. Guruji looks at his Sikhs and orders Bhai Dunichand to fight the elephant next morning. Dunichand is a heavily-built, 7 feet and 200kg strong warrior, but when he hears that he’ll have to fight a drunken elephant, he chooses to run away. In the dark of night, he jumps the wall of fort, fracturing his leg in the process. When he reaches his home next day, while lying on his bed, leg bandaged by doctor, a snake come and bites him. Dunichand dies. The death he was so afraid of, the death fearing which he goes out of Guru’s Hukam comes and grabs him.

On other hand, in the morning when Khalsa is ready to take on Kings and their elephant, Sikhs report to Guruji that Dunichand has run away. Guruji again smiles and looks at all the Sikhs. This time he chooses a 5.5 feet tall sikh, Bhai Bachittar Singh ji, who’s better known as ‘bahroopia singh’’(for his ability to change guise) and asks him to fight the elephant. Sikh comes and places his head on Guru’s feet and says ‘’O Lord, I don’t have the power to fight or win, bless me’’! Guru smiles and blesses his sikh and gives him a Naagni Barcha( Spear with curved blades) and places his heand on his head.

Ranjeet Nagara thunders and Singhs reach the battlefield to stop the elephant approaching Lohgarh fort. Elephant, on whose forehead 7 iron plates, each 1 inch thick are tied comes face to face with Bhai Bachittar singh. As Elephant tries to crush Singh under his feet, Singh stands on his horse back, shouts a Jaikaara and hits Elephant with his Naagni, which pierces the Iron plates and hits his forehead, wounding the elephant. Maddened with rage, the elephant turns back and starts crushing the same army which brought him and falls after a distance. Bhai Udai singh jumps in battle and cuts off head of Commander of Army of Hill kings, Kesrichand, lifts it up with his spear and gives out a victory Jaikaara. The attacking army runs away and Khalsa wins the battle.

What power has a human got to fight with an Elephant, fully protected, armoured and drunk? No, it was not Bhai Bachittar Singh who killed it, he just readied himself to walk on Guru’s Hukam, to follow Guru’s Hukam and if need be, lay down life for Guru’s Hukam. When the Sikh readied himself to die for Guru, fight for Guru, then Guru blessed him with his power. It was Guru’s Power, Shakti, which was working through the Sikh.

No surprise Sikhi is a Religion of Hukam, Guru’s will! And those who follow it, live by it are blessed by Guru with Bliss, Power, Ras and Sehaj!

What else does a sikh need?

Are they really Sikhs of Guru?

People who are spewing venom against Baani of Guru Gobind Singh ji maharaj with mischievous reasons claim to be TRUE Sikhs of Guru Granth sahib ji. They label their anti-panthic propaganda as a Movement for respect of Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj and Ten Gurus. But truth is something else, their own writings and deeds expose their hidden intentions. These people actually don’t have any love or respect for Guru Granth Sahib ji or Ten Gurus or Sikh History or traditions. These people should not be called even Sikhs! They are not! They are all Perverts, Agents, Cats, communists , RSS, all mixed up with one common mission- Finish Sikhi!
We’ll do some vichaar on their claims of fighting for respect of Guru Granth Sahib ji, that how much they actually love Guruji and also about those whom they portray as Anti-Panthic, Dasam granthis and bahmanvaadi. After that it’ll not be tough to comprehend who realyy Loves and respects Guru Granth Sahib ji.
1. Anti-Dasam baani people don’t believe Guru Granth Sahib ji to be ‘’Jaagdi Jot’’-Living Guru. They believe it just to be a Holy Book, but so do radhaswamis, narkdharis, Noormehlia, and Hindu Sants like Asaram bapu, morari bapu and Arya Samaj. So whats the difference?
2. They don’t believe in the maryada of Sewa of Guru Granth Sahib ji,i.e Parkash, Sukh-asan,Rumalle, Chaur Sahib etc.
3. They refuse to accept that Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj gave Gurugaddi to Guru Granth Sahib ji in 1708.
4. They have claimed to find ‘Mistakes’ in language and grammer of Guru Granth Sahib ji.
5. They doubt Sanctity and purity of Guru granth Sahib ji and
don’t believe in sampooran Guru Granth Sahib ji, but claim instead that Guruji’s Baani has been mixed-up i.e Raagmaala and some Bhatt and Bhagat Baani. (Those who doubt Guru Granth Sahib ji can not be hoped to respect dasam guru’s baani.)
6. They don’t believe Updesh of Baani to be Timeless and Universal, instead they claim that some shabads were practical for the time when they were actually composed, not in today’s date i.e Shabads like ‘’ Naroo mare Nar Kaam na aave’’ and ‘Anth kaal jo lachmi simre’.
7. These people have for decades rejected puritan Taksali arths of Baani as Bahmanvaadi, instead claimed arths of Prof. Sahib singh ji to be real and true arths of Baani, but now these people have thrown out Prof. Sahib singh also from their group, as he’s now useless for them( because he believed in Dasam Baani). They now claim his arths also to be inappropriate and incomplete and ‘Anti-Gurmat’.
8. Recently In Harimandir sahib and Akaal takhat sahib there were incidents where some RSS inspired people had committed blasphemous acts like sitting on Guruji’s Aasan and throwing acid on Guru Granth Sahib ji. At that time it was people like Bhai Amrik Singh ji ( Taksali and Bahmanvaadi according to them)and Bhai Gurnaam Singh ji who had taken action against them, and in the process cases were registered against Bhai Amrik Singh ji. But these so called ‘’real Sikhs’ were no where to be seen.
9. Sarna, head of Delhi Gurudwara management Committee, sent Saroops of Guru Granth Sahib ji to foreign countries in Containers of Ships. These People didn’t say a word, how could they have? Because it’s this very Gaddar Sarna who’s providing them logistical, economic and political support (he’s a congressman and near to Gandhi family) for their anti-panthic activities.
10. Darshan lal visited Hazoor sahib scores of times before 2007, but he never raised the issue of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib ji’s Parkash, but when whole Panth was to celebrate 300th Gurta-gaddi Diwas of Guru Granth Sahib ji he raked up this pointless issue. The time, the fervor, which was to be used to unite Sikhs under the Guruship of Guru Granth Sahib ji, to educate and bring back Sikhs who had become worshipers of dehdhaari Pakhandis was lost in internal-conflict.
11. Never once have these anti-Dasam baani nindaks stood up for honour of Guru Granth Sahib ji, never spoken a word against deh-dhaari Pakhandis, confronted them, instead they called Sikhs who had gone to stop Noormehlia Ashutosh on 5th December in Ludhiana as ‘kids of RSS’. Shame on Nindaks!

The list of ninda is very long. These people have no faith in Waheguru, Ten gurus, Guru Granth Sahib ji, Sikh history, traditions. They don’t even believe in Aatma (Soul).
How can these people be called Faithful Sikhs?

Baba Deep Singh ji, Chandi Di Vaar and Baana

Guru Gobind Singh ji in his Baani has praised the Creative Energy of Universe, The Shabad as Khanda! Guru ji blessed only one person in his worldly life with Khanda, Baba Deep Singh ji. Khanda is Double-Edged sword, having power of two Kirpans in it.Two blades of The Khanda blessed to Babaji symbolised Bhagti-Shakti, Piri-Miri, Baani-Baana, Sant-Sipahi Saroop of Khalsa Panth. Babaji was to lead a life of Sant who will in future write 4 Saroops of Guru Granth Sahib ji with his Hand, One Saroop in Arabic and One Saroop in Sindhi language, so that word of Guru reaches to one and all, compile and finalize Saroop of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib ji, and also live life of a Soldier who’ll fight for Panth in battlefield whenever called upon and honour his commitment to his Guru to return the Head, which Guru Blessed him with! He was a perfect blend of Art of Shastar(weapons) and Shaastar(Knowledge)!
Babaji was given command of Akali Nihang Singhs and ‘’Damdame Vaali Taksal’’! It was to ready Gursikhs,Tyar Bar Tyar, committed to Sikhi parchar and Dharamyudh. Guruji taught Babaji some very special arts of Shastarvidya there and also the Mystical and spiritual value of His Baani, Shastars, Nihang baana, Shastar Pooja and other traditions.

Dasam Guru’s baani is of Bir-Ras, even in completely Spiritual Compositions like Jaap Sahib and Akaal Ustat, we see Bir-Ras as the basic theme. Most amazing composition of Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj, whose every word is filled with Bir-Ras, which eulogises Dharam-Yudh is’’ Chandi di Vaar’’. The Power it has is unmatched, unexplainable and unthinkable. It was the Baani read by Babaji everyday with blessings of Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj, was closest to his heart,so close that when He was fighting with his head on his palm, he was singing Chandi Di Vaar!It was read by Millions of Singhs in 18th, 19th and 20th century and is still being read by many many Gursikh pyaare. But as there is Maryada for every baani, Chandi di vaar has a very unique maryada. It has the Bir-Ras in it, which wakes up warrior inside every human whoever reads it, inspires the faithful to fight for Dharam and Sacrifice life if need be. One Baani Nindak asked, how come Sikhs fought at the time of Sixth Guru against the Mughals, defeated them? There was no Dasam Granth then. These fools need to be asked, If Sikhs could fight just that way, what was the need for creation of Khalsa panth? Why Guruji did choose Panj Piare and started the Khalsa tradition of Panj Singhs? What was the need? These people have never done any Naam Simran, done Sangat of any Mahapurakh, I’m not saying I’m best, no, not at all but I can say I’m better than those who speak against Guru’s Baani, history and Shaheed Singhs.

Little bit of deep research makes everything clear. When Guru Hargobind Sahib ji fought mughals, he was present Physically in all the four battles to lead and guide his Sikhs . His Spiritual power was helping Sikhs as he held the sword in his hand and motivated his Sikhs to fight the enemy. But that was not to be the case after Guru Gobind Singh ji was to go to Sachkhand. Who would have led Khalsa Army in Battlefield, Guided panth in times of trouble, and protected the maryada if he hadn’t started the institution of Panj Piare?? When in battlefield, who would have stirred up the warrior spirit of Sikhs?? Answer is Baani of Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj!

‘’When a Guru, A Master composes Baani, it has the power to take the reader, The Sikh to the same level where Guru composed it! When Guru Nanak Dev ji or Guru Arjan Dev ji composed baani, it was in awastha of One-ness with Waheguru, if we read that Baani again and again, it’ll take us also to the very same awastha. When we read Akaal Ustat, it has the power to take us out of this body, into infinity! Where we are one with creation of Waheguru Akaal and sing ‘’Tuhi, Tuhi, Tuhi, Tuhi’. If Guru Shares his Knowledge, His Gyaan, His Naam-Ras with his Sikhs through his Baani, through his words, takes his Sikh to the same level as his, same way Guru transfers his Power, His Shakti, and His Mahakaal Saroop to Sikhs with his word, his baani. Gurus Placed their Knowledge, gyaan, Shaant-ras, Anand in Baani of Guru Granth Sahib ji, Same way Guru Gobind Singh ji placed his Infinte Shakti in his Baani, transferred his Bir-ras to his Singhs through this Baani of Chandi Di Vaar. But it has much much power, which a normal human being can’t carry,How can a weak and sick person carry a heavy load on his head? He’s bound to give up. That’s why Guruji guided Babaji to make Singhs read Lots of Japji Sahib, Sukhmani Sahib and Jaap Sahib Paaths first, so that they are able to absorb the power of Chandi Di vaar in them, so that it doesn’t get over their heads. Other important Maryada he started was of reading Uggardanti Chhand after Chandi Di Vaar, its still a puratan Maryada, which Charhdi kala Gursikhs have carried seena baseena!( In puratan times, Chandi di Vaar was not allowed to be read until Jathedar had passed the Bhujangi) Another important thing he ordered was to read Baani for having Shastars.Maharaj ji ordered Sikhs to read as much baani ,as much Shastars they wanted to have. Babaji had 11 chakkars,4 Khande, one Kirpan in his Dumalla, one Tega, two Kattars, one pistol, two Kards, One Farsa, one jamdarh, large gajgah and his 27 Kgs Khanda always in his kamarkasa! It weighed around 50 Kgs! But to have this much Sarabloh on his body and still stay Shaant was his unique quality. For this his daily Nitnem was, 110 japji Sahibs, 51 jaap Sahibs,5 Sukhmani Sahibs,21 Chandi di vaar(with Uggardanti) and nitnem of Das Granthi. All this used to take him around 12 hours, from 1 at amrit vela to 1 in afternoon, but this Brahmgiani son of Guru was always tyar bar tyar again afterwards, holding santhya and Shastarvidya Akhada in evening. He slept for just an hour, that also to fulfil nitnem of Kirtan Sohila! Akaaaaaaaall!''

Nowadays some ppl, especially kids are much interested in putting on Nihang Baana, its good thing, but it’s a benti to read as much baani also! For One Shastar in Dumalla, one Jaap Sahib atleast, other than nitnem! Then only this dumalla, this baana, these shastars will stay with us, help us, guide us and make us warrior Sons of Guru Gobind Singh ji, else we’ll fall! I’ve seen many people fall, just because they made a fashion statement by wearing Baana, but this baana is held by Dasam baani and many people even don’t know about Dasam baani. When Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj left for Sachkhand in 1708, after him it was Baani of Guru Granth Sahib ji which took Sikhs to supreme spiritual Awastha, Maryada of panj Piare which held the Panth as One, and Baani of Guru Gobind Singh ji, especially Chandi Di Vaar, which inspired, empowered and led Singh’s into battlefield. Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj had blessed his Nihangs to be the first Ones to demolish and vanquish any Enemy in Battlefield; He blessed them with power to stand solid like a rock in battlefield and roar like a elephant and fight like a Lion in Battlefield.
But only True Nihangs like Baba Deep Singh ji Shaheed and Baba Phoola Singh ji were blessed, who loved their Guru and His Baani and were Parpakk in Sikhi Maryada, always ready to die for Guru’s honour. It was for those Nihangs some poet has written these lines..

Title of Shaheed to Baba Deep Singh Ji.

There is no religion, Nation or movement without a history. When a leader, Master or Scholar writes something or says something, it alone isn’t enough to bring about a change in social structure of the contemporary Society. Something written is not enough to inspire future generations to follow the written word in its completeness until actions are performed based on what is written. It’s the actions, deeds of the followers which will portray to the present society and future generations the importance and greatness, the great value of Guru’s, Master’s Word. No one would have believed in concepts of God, Naam, Sewa, Simran, Sacrifice enshrined in Guru Granth Sahib ji if Gurus and Gursikhs had not ‘’Lived the Word’’. Reading baani, singing baani is one thing; Living Baani is a very different and great thing. Gurbaani is what Gurus and Bhagats said and History is what Gurus and Gursikhs did. It’s just like Theory and Practical of Science.

When we search Sikh history for important role Dasam Guru’s Baani played in shaping destiny of Khalsa Panth, we come across innumerable instances. We’ll discuss about the most important Chapter of 18th century Sikh history, emergence of Baba Deep Singh ji Shaheed Maharaj and how he got the title of Shaheed. The role this Sant-Sipahi-Scholar Son of Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj played in Charhdi Kala and Victory march of Panth is unmatched and will be remembered for ages to come.

Baba Deep Singh ji Shaheed was born on 26 Jan 1682, in Pahuwind, Amritsar. He first had darshan of Guru Gobind Singh ji in 1688, at the age of 6. Babaji took amrit in 1700 and after that lived in Anandpur Sahib with Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj. The Day Baba Fateh Singh ji and Baba Jorawar Singh ji wore Dummalle and Guru ji blessed them with the title of Commanders Of Laadliya fauja(Beloved Warriors), Baba Deep Singh ji was one of the singhs to tie Akali Dumalla on his head, with shastars and chakkars. He was blessed by Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj that day and given title of ‘’Mahakaal Singh’’.

Baba Deep Singh ji’s Jatha was known as Jatha Shaheeda, and after 1748, it came to be known as Misal Shaheedan, (Misal means file, where only those Singh’s names used to be written who were ready to attain Shaheedi anytime for Guru). But Shaheed is a person who lays his life for Guru, who attains Shaheedi for Guru, then why was Babaji known as Shaheed, while still alive? Why was this greatest General of Panth, Supreme Commander of Akali Nihang Singh Khalsa (he was commander of Akali Nihangs according to Pracheen Panth parkash), Mukhi of Damdami Taksal and Misal Shaheedan, who baptised hundreds of thousands in Sikhi and kept Sikhs united till he was in Body, known as Shaheed?

History goes like this. When Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj composed Shabad ‘’Mittar Pyaare nu’’ at Macchiwara, he sung it as ‘’Mittar Pyaare nu haal fakeera da kehna’’. When Guru Ji reached Damdama sahib, Mata Sundar Kaur ji and Mata Sahib Kaur ji met Guru Ji here and surviving Singhs from Anandpur gathered here. One fine evening as Guruji was lying on his bed, cool breeze touched his body and with a mystical flash in his eyes he started singing this Shabad in Love of Akaal Purakh Waheguruji. When Maharaj ji sang ‘’Mittar Pyaare nu haal fakkera da kehna ‘’ again, Baba Deep Singh ji, who was standing on duty near Maharaj heard this and tears started flowing down his eyes. Guruji asked, Deep Singh why are you crying? Babaji said, Maharaj ji it’s due to Bairaag, Guru Pita ji, you are lord of Universe, Sargun roop of Akaal ji, why u call urself a fakeer? I am not able to tolerate this, My Guru, master of millions of universes, Param-aatma roop calling him self Fakeer. Maharaj ji, please change this word. It’s a request. Maharaj smiled and said Deep Singh, this is Baani, Song of my Soul in love of my Father, my beloved friend Waheguru ji, its every word is ‘’Living’’. It has energy in it, it has Life in it, if you want me to change one ‘’Live word’’, give me something live for exchange. Babaji said I have only this Life; it is already yours, what else I can give you. Guruji said Deep Singh, if you wish me to change this word; you have to give your head! Babaji took out his sword, unsheathed it and as he swung it to cut his neck, Guruji held his hand! As Babaji opened his eyes, he saw Guruji holding his hand. Guruji took him in his arms, blessed him and put his hand on his head and said Deep Singh,’’ Nihaal, Nihaal, Nihaal! Your selfless sewa, great sacrifice, bhagti and love for me will be honoured for ages. You have attained the Supreme Spiritual Awastha, Param-Anand, Oneness with Akaal ji, you have realized the Truth Deep Singh’’. As Guru Granth Sahib ji’s Baani Says, ‘’Aaap Gavaiye, Taa Shauh Paiye’’. Babaji was given title of ‘’Shaheed’’ by Guruji that day. Guru Gobind Singh ji said mercifully that his head now belonged to him, but he was being given it back for Sewa of Panth. Guru Ji said I’ll take it back at appropriate time. And this way the great General of Panth got his title of ‘’Shaheed’’ from Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj. Maharaj changed the word ‘’Fakeera’’ to ‘’Mureeda’’ and then again sang the whole shabad as
Khyal by the Tenth King
Tell the Beloved Friend (God) the plight of us, the Disciples.
"Without you, it is a torment to wear quilts (in winter) and living in imposing mansion is like dwelling with snakes."
The flask is like a (honed) spike, the goblet is like a dagger and (your separation) is akin to enduring the thrust of a butcher's knife.
The bare floor of (our Beloved) Friend is acceptable to us. Living in towns is like living in a furnace. (1)(1)(6)

Akaal ji Sahai.

Sikhi- Naam Dharam

Sikhi in today’s world is described as a religion…although looking at the definition of religion, it is clearly a man made concept. Sikhism is much more than only a religion, it is a dharma. It is the Dharma of Naam. Sikhism preaches the truth, which has been in existence forever, but not all understand it. The core of Sikhism is naam, naam is the eternal truth, and hence it never begins and is never ending. So how can we say Sikhism started only 500 years ago, when surely the truth of naam has been around since the beginning of time itself. Naam is the path which waheguru himself has given us, our path to salvation. Religion is bound by the fact that only man can follow it, whereas with dharma all of nature itself must abide and does abide by the laws set by Akaal Purakh. The sun gives light as it is what Waheguru requires of it, it is its dharma. The moon reflects that light as it is, it’s dharma is to do so and so all of existence should follow its dharma.

The importance of naam in sikhi is infinite but it is also important to understand why that is.
Sikhi aims to preach the truth, therefore its not surprising that so much emphasis is placed on the importance of Naam.
Naam is the foundation of life, dharma and naam coincide. From Naam came the pawan (air) from the pawan came jal (water), in each atom of life naam is present.

Psychological pain (dukh) is experienced when we become far from naam, becoming far from naam causes us to become out of place. Following the path of naam is following the path of dharma. Dharma is the sustaining force of Universe, the Law of Nature which holds Universe, galaxies, sun, moons, stars, planets and all life ….Guru Nanak ji Says in Japji,
The bull is Dharma, the son of compassion.
This is what patiently holds the earth in its place.
So if compassion is the mother of dharma, who is the father? Answer is, Waheguru Himself! So Waheguru with his Compassion Created Dharma for holding Earth, not only Earth but all the Creation!
So the real creator of dharma is Waheguru himself. But what is that Dharma which is the Law of Nature, which is the Divine Order of Go d, the Hukam? Baani gives answer to this question, it is Naam!

Naam is god’s law, by which whole shrishti(creation) must abide, which holds whole of creation in a magnetic discipline.
The Naam is the Support of all creatures.
The Naam is the Support of the earth and solar systems.
The Naam is the Support of the Simritees, the Vedas and the Puraanas.
The Naam is the Support by which we hear of spiritual wisdom and meditation.
The Naam is the Support of the cosmic ethers and the nether regions.
The Naam is the Support of all bodies.
The Naam is the Support of all worlds and realms.
Associating with the Naam, listening to it with the ears, one is saved.
Those whom the Lord mercifully attaches to His Naam
O Nanak, in the fourth state, those humble servants attain salvation. ||5||

So what makes people different? Man kind is the only creature which is blessed with buddhi, the ability to use our conscious mind or free will, as some may call it, but is it a blessing or a curse, something which sometimes takes us far from our true lord? With Buddhi (intellect) comes haumai, the belief that it is “I” who is in control of my own life. This causes us to move far from the principle of surrendering ourselves to Akaal Purakh. This is what leads us to the belief that this life is our own and not his, who has blessed us with it. Haumai is what takes us far from naam, takes us far from our dharma.
Ego is opposed to the Name of the Lord; the two do not dwell in the same place.
In egotism, selfless service cannot be performed, and so the soul goes unfulfilled. ||1||
O my mind, think of the Lord, and practice the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
If you submit to the Hukam of the Lord's Command, then you shall meet with the Lord; only then will your ego depart from within. ||Pause||

Most of the prophets and holy men who tried to search God, look for real Dharma, had this sense of haumai in them, which led them to start practises which were not in uniformity with Law of Waheguru, i.e., calling themselves as chosen ones, the ultimate messengers, Manmat practises like deforming human body as created by Waheguru ji. But all these practises and rituals and rites are not acceptable in Court of Waheguru! Only thing which will take us to Waheguru, The Infinite Lord, is Shabad!
When one begins to come face to face with the reality that I am nothing, I do nothing, all is the blessing of Waheguru, then only can the haumai of the mind be defeated. When the morning sun of hukam rises we need not waste our energy destroying the darkness of haumai, the night itself fades with the coming of the day.

Being far from dharma, naam and hukam is what causes pain in our lives, unhappiness, the feeling of being incomplete. Why is it we look for happiness outside when the answer, the cure to every pain is within us, naam which waheguru has placed inside each and every person? Only thing we have to get it is to follow the words of True Guru.

The Naam is a Priceless Jewel; it is with the Perfect True Guru.
When one is enjoined to serve the True Guru, He brings out this Jewel and bestows this enlightenment.
Blessed, and most fortunate of the very fortunate, are those who come to meet the Guru. ||2||

Happiness is a state of mind, so the real source of happiness must lie within the mind, not in external conditions.Everything in nature is held in the hukam of Akaal Purakh, and follows the patterns which he has set. The winds flow in the direction in which he wishes them to flow. The birds chirp in the hours of day, in which he wishes them to chirp. They are completing their dharma, following hukam as is required of them. When a person begins to become closer to waheguru, begins to understand the importance of hukam, it is then that he truly appreciates nature. When one begins to surrender themselves to Maharaj it is only then that they appreciate all which is already completely in surrender to him. That is when they can see Waheguru in even the smallest creature, such as an ant, as well as in the vast beauties of the mountains.

Naam is the true dharma, the truth which all must follow, naam which is not bound by religion or race, is the most essential truth of life. The only way to reach waheguru is through naam. No matter what religion they were born into, saints and bhagats have all found God through naam and not ritualistic custom. Whether it was Sheik Farid born in a Muslim family or Bhagat Ravidas born in a Hindu family or they were Dhruv or Prahlad born in Satyug, or Kabeer and Naamdev in Kalyug, all immersed in God through Naam simran.
This Gur-shabad states all the great Souls who immersed in Waheguru by following Naam Dharam.

We can clearly see from Baani that whosoever, from the time of creation till today has found the Truth, Waheguru, has done following Path of Shabad, which is essence of a Sikh’s Life!
Those within his hukam, those doing their dharma are never unhappy, since they have succumbed and surrendered to Akaal Purakh. They follow Guru-mat, not mann-mat. They follow the supreme hukam of Waheguru. Naam is the real Dharma, the law, the principle, the divine order of Waheguru ji! Naam is the eternal truth, eternal religion to be followed because this is the order of the creator. That is why sikhi is the dharma of Naam.

Wake up Call

As a Sikh, the life and soul are immortal, only the attire, the body, perishes and a new life waits. So why fear? Sant Jarnail Singh ji Khalsa always said,’ Physical death I do not fear, death of conscience is sure death’’!

Being a Sikh should be an elevating and enriching factor of our life instead of making us feel embarrassed. Those who fear war get war and those who are ashamed at being what they are get nothing but shame from everyone. Never say yes when you ought to say no and never compromise on basic issues. That's what those who have an ideological commitment declare. Rest, simply pass time.

Today the need of hour is to live as Sikhs of Guru. We come to Gurudwaras not as Sikhs of guru but as individuals owing allegiance to someone else than Guru, we are not guided by Guru’s Matt but by what different people say. Today if we want to see what our Guru is actually saying, what actually is Guru’s path, we need to see the lives, jeevan of Gurmukhs who lived In Guru’s word! We need to see jeevan of Baba Deep Singh ji, Baba Mani Singh ji,Baba Buddha ji and try to live as they lived, inculcate in us the virtues of Sikhi they had in them. Sant ji used to say,’ A Sikh’s relation to Guru is same as of a word (Shabad) with its meaning (Arth)’’.Meaning(Arth) clarifies what the word is all about, Same way Life of a True Gursikh is nothing else but a physical manifestation of Guru’s word. To Follow Guru in His entirety, we need to put in practice what he tells us to do. Question here is, are we following words of our holy master? Are we looking upon his great gursikhs as our ideals to stand up in this world? Answer is No.
But unless we feel the pain deep down our hearts, nothing is going to change. So many people today have much enthusiasm, much passion for doing something, but there’s no one to guide. And the people who are today guiding our Panth and youngsters are themselves on a path which is very far from Guru’s Path. So what we should do in these times of mistrust, in this age of darkness where we don’t see any ray of hope, where there’s no light! Only way left, take the shelter of feet of True Lord, Guru Granth Sahib Ji. After much contemplation I came to a result, and that is, Sikh has no power to do anything related to Sikhi or Panth! Some may ask how I can say that. Answer is simple, Panth and Sikhi belong to Waheguru and Satguru, and they are themselves protectors and salvagers of Panth. They know what is best for their Panth. It’s like an elder of a family who wants to go on a Pilgrimage, and he wants his family, women of family, kids, business everything to be taken good care of! So what he’ll do, he’ll choose his most able son or daughter to lead the family in his absence. Same is the case with Sikhi, hundreds and thousands want to do something for Sikhi, but aren’t able to do so, simple reason being they haven’t been chosen by Guru. Because when somebody chosen by Guru takes command, he’s blessed by Guru to change time and rules, he attains power to vanquish traitors and demolish oppressors and tyrants. In Sikh history, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, Sardar Jassa Singh Ahluwalia and Baba Sahib Singh Bedi are shining examples of this fact that when blessed souls, who have done kamaai of naam take charge, they change the flow of time! In modern times Sant Jarnail Singh ji’s example is here, how a person single-handedly can take a oppressive regime head-on and wake up a sleeping nation with his roar!
Not only has the general had to be chosen by Guru, but also the army! We Sikhs ,we feel much, we worry much, we get sad and depressed on present affairs of our nation, but do we do what we really have to do? No. we don’t! Isn’t this our duty to follow our guru’s commandments by heart? Isn’t it our duty to be vigilant against those people who are trying to plunder our rich history and our great Khalsa values? If we don’t stand up against beadbi of our Guru, our martyrs, our history, how can we hope that guru will be pleased with us, will bless us with Sikhi di sewa? Somebody comes to us and says there’s nothing called amrit, what we do?? Somebody comes and says Jaap sahib or Chaupai sahib or Raagmala is not Baani, what we do? If someone says Sikhs are part of Hindus, or we got our baana from some Hindu goddess, or Guru Gobind Singh ji worshipped Devi for creating Panth, what we do? What’s our reaction? What we feel deep inside us? Does something makes us feel restless and apprehensive from inside and says, NO, this is not right and I’ll speaka against this? If yes, it means you are alive, and if No, then in words of Sant Jarnail Singh ji, ’’Physical death I do not fear, Death of conscience is a sure death’’.
Today our enemies have targeted Guru Granth Sahib, Sri Dasam Granth Sahib, Our Rehat Maryada, Our Kakkars, our Age old Traditions, Our Martyrs. And what are we doing?? Just sleeping and doing nothing, waiting for a miracle to happen, but did Guru Gobind Singh Ji taught us to wait for miracles? Didn’t he teach us to stand up for truth, ideals, and sanctity of our Sikhi?? People come and say,Guru Arjan dev ji didn’t sit on red hot iron plate or Baba Deep Singh didn’t fight with his head on his palm,it’s a myth, what we do?? We sit and say nothing is going to happen if someone says that, but we have to understand, that it’s a process of slow-poisoning with an ultimate aim to give us a slow and steady death.
We, the Sikhs of Guru, today stand at very crucial juncture in human history, where if we stand united, with Guru’s word guiding us, we’ll be victors of world, and if we didn’t, only stories will remain, that once upon a time, Khalsa Panth walked on this earth, Panth of people with minds imbued in the name of lord Waheguru, with a shine in their eyes, the shine which awaited the beautiful death in the battlefield, so that they go to their Guru, heads held high. World will only have stories of a set of people who were cut from limbs, sawed and boiled alive, had their scalps removed and children burnt alive in fire, why? To uphold the ideals of truth, to stand up against tyranny and injustice, to create a social order where every person can live his life with freedom, where equality and justice reign supreme. It was Panth’s goal and it still is, set by Guru himself to create a society where mind is without fear, where every person walks, head held high with self-esteem! Where Guru’s word guides humanity how to live!
Panth was created on principle of one. Our Lord Waheguru is one, Our Guru is one, our flag is one, our rules are one, but today we stand divided, direction less, and aimless. We are doing what we are doing, without caring what the results will be. And each one of us is trying to prove other a fool, novice and anti-Sikh. Today the battle is ideological being fought by ill-equipped warriors of different hues. Some understand it a personal play and keep their organizations, their jathas a private limited corporate business. We care for Group more than Guru. We speak out at top of our voices, even to the extent of physical showdowns, if somebody says wrong about our group or Group leaders, but never ever we have spoken or come to resist beadbi of Holy Satguru or Shaheeds of Satguru. And then we call ourselves as his Sikhs.
Remember, Guru blesses those who come to him as Sikhs, as learners, as disciples , we have to come to our guru leaving our personal commitments, ideologies behind, with only love of Guru as our guiding light ,and we’ll be blessed. Whole life of Sikh is about learning, Sikhi is to be practiced at a physical, mental and spiritual level. Guru’s word has to go deep in our consciousness, to awaken it, to enlighten it, so that we live in that light and with Guru’s kirpa, have the ability to bring people living in darkness into light of Shabad! Only then will be a Kingdom of Peace, Kingdom of Guru Arjun Dev’s dreams will be established on this earth, which my Satguru named as ‘’Halemi Raj’’!
Lets do ardas in front of Satguru ji, may he bless all with Bibek Buddhi (divine knowledge), Baani, Naam-ras and bless us to be foot soldiers of this Holy Mission of creating Halemi Raaj, so that whole of humanity can live peacefully, eternally in His Holy Presence!

Akaal Ji Sahai.

The Call

Our forefathers have given us something no ordinary person could give their children. Through their actions alone they’ve taught us so much, how to live as a true and honest Sikh.

How will a Sikh be cunning if he once thinks of the truth in the heart and words of Bhai Mani Singh ji even whilst being martyred?

How will a Sikh consider cutting his/her Kesh if they imagine the stand Bhai Taru Singh ji took for the love he had for his Kesh?

How will a Sikh hesitate to walk on path which leads to Guru’s abode if he/she feels the spirit and love for Sikhi Baba Deep Singh ji had in him?

We only need to take inspiration from our fathers and mothers who have walked before us, and left such big marks in our history so that we, the children don’t lose our way.

But we, the Sikhs of today have gone far, very far from the Path created by our Gurus, on which our ancestors walked, on which our brave Shaheeds walked.

Let’s recognise it, get back on it and reach our real abode, our Guru’s Darbar!
